Hello again All, a new year started and lots to look forward to again! Got my first painting of the year done and it's now going to a new home as part of a gala art auction with proceeds going to a Community Lifestyles society. I'm really stoked about that. The painting is the latest in my Costa Rica series and I think it was my favourite so far. The next one in the series is on the easel and I've already started on it. I have gained a whole lot of confidence with putting people into my paintings, and I will continue to do that. Just don't look for perfect portraiture...can I do that? Probably...but I don't want to, it's not the look I want in my paintings. The Costa Rica series is showcasing the lifestyle, scenery, and architecture of the area. I hope you agree that it shows that well.
I actually have gotten fairly busy already. I have two colour theory workshops coming up soon and the first one is almost full. I could use two more participants to fill it. The plan is to try to have two workshops a month, so I'm hoping word of mouth and my adverts get out there and I hear something positive in this area. I am part of a two woman show until February 2 at our local University College library. This show is through the Artscape program of our Arts Council. If you can't get out to see the show you can go to www.artsco.ca click on exhibitions and follow the prompts to see our show. I also have a couple of critique sessions coming up, so I'm being kept on my toes for sure! Then there are the juried shows that I will be picking through to choose which ones I want to be involved with. There are also two National shows: one Canadian, and one American coming up in April that I am looking forward to. Not to mention the fact that I am having a solo show in April, but more details on that in the next post.
Our art group started up this week. The girls were all excited to be back together and tossing ideas around. We have a couple of tutorials planned for this month with much interest being expressed for both of them.
Bringing you up to date with the art group, we ended our first half year the end of November with our Christmas Luncheon and painting exchange. We enjoyed each other's company, ate some great food, and left with an original painting we could add to our own personal collections.
In October, I was working hard on a commission painting for a special friend and it's now finished and waiting to be varnished. It measures 30" by 40" and is a great piece that has already received several compliments. After varnishing it will patiently await it's new home.
This post ended up being a bit mixed up, but you get the gist that I'm busy working on my Costa Rica series, workshops, critiques, and anything art that I can think of. I post new work on my Facebook page so you can find me there, like my page, and friend me to follow what I'm doing. It's a lot of fun!
That's all this time, take care!
I am new at this blog business, but I want to share what I am doing with you. I will add my activities as they happen and show you what I do each day. And, hopefully, I'll get some painting done.
