Wow I can't believe that over three months have flown past since my last post! So much water has gone under the bridge during this time. The art group had their Art in the Garden show which was again very successful for us. We will make a few changes to the one next year, but hopefully, it will be just as well done and the previous ones.
The group was also involved in Artwalk where we enjoyed a few sales. I even sold a couple of small pieces. We always look forward to any opportunity we have to exhibit and this year was no different.
In the meantime I have been enjoying the competitions of the juried shows. In August I had been accepted into the Society of Canadian Artists 47th Open Juried exhibition and sale at the Gainsborough Galleries in Calgary. I had two boat paintings in the show, and one sold at the opening reception and the other one sold before the end of the show. Very excited to have two special people in Alberta owning some of my work. Then three juried shows at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver with another one coming up soon and I was accepted into Artwalk with my own booth once again. Next on my list is an exhibit with the Potters and Artisan group of artists in November, and really looking forward to that. I don't get to show very often locally. Right now I'm getting ready for the signature show in Vancouver as well as a solo show here in Kelowna this December and a huge solo show at Osoyoos Art Gallery in Osoyoos next April. I've been painting up a storm, spending about five hours a day in the studio, working a bit larger, hoping to have a new body of work done soon. I need ten new pieces for a show and have five done towards it now, so it's coming along. No stress there!
I've kinda sorta moved into social media. How astounding is that!!? I mainly use it to show my art and will post new work as it is completed or show a work in progress so you can see the process as the piece is painted. I really enjoy doing that then fielding the questions. Talking about answering questions, I will be doing critiques on the works of several artists coming up next month. The fca chapter of the north Okanagan will be having their monthly luncheon meeting and I get to look at the artwork afterwards. So looking forward to that, not only as an educational opportunity for the artists, but also as a personal opportunity to hone my observational skills. Learning to be impartial, honest, and encouraging, and empathetic all rolled into the process is something I am really interested in. Again, no stress there! I've also got my Newsletter off the ground and will be putting another one out the beginning of December. It will contain my events for the following three months. It is very exciting and another great opportunity to connect with people. If anyone reading this would like to receive my Newsletter, simply click on my Contact page to let me know so I can add you to my email list. You can opt out at any time. I hope to add a button to my site in the near future which will facilitate that.
So it's onward and upward with lots of work to do, lots of shows yet till the end of the year, and much to look forward to. So, see you next time!
I am new at this blog business, but I want to share what I am doing with you. I will add my activities as they happen and show you what I do each day. And, hopefully, I'll get some painting done.
