It's been a while since my last post...and that's because I am doing my Newsletter as well and feel like I will be repeating myself using both. I don't want to disappoint anyone who is reading my blog by not having it, or maybe you don't want to sign up for my newsletter. So I will do my best to let you know both ways what I'm doing and what's going on in Colleen's ArtWorld!
I set up my solo show in Osoyoos last week and I have to say that it looks absolutely smashing! I told one of the ladies that if it wasn't my work, I would be looking to buy a piece. It really does look great and I was totally gobsmacked. Those ladies really know how to put a show together...! That show will be up until April 23, so hopefully some of you will get the chance to see it.
In the meantime I have entered and been accepted into the National show in Kamloops and post those two paintings here. It's the 9th Annual National juried open and I have been accepted into each one, for which I am very grateful and look forward to this show every year. These two paintings are part of my Costa Rica series which I am really enjoying working on. The first one is Across the Tracks and the second one is Afternoon Stroll. They both tell the story. I am over halfway through this series which will contain ten images. A truly fulfilling series for me!
I am now teaching Colour Theory workshops and I think I've created a monster! I am really enjoying it and feeling very satisfied with how they're going. Inside a month after a class, I like to put a painting workshop together so that the participants can bring what they learned in the class to a new painting. They bring their journal that they made during the class to refer to while they work on a new painting or make corrections on problems they were having in a painting. I must be doing something right as I have wait lists for both workshops. Very encouraging, indeed! I am thinking this last class coming up will be the last class for the summer, but I will be taking names for the class starting up in the Fall. We'll see how that goes. For more information on classes please check out my Workshops page here.
Because of teaching the workshops I haven't been applying to the juried shows other than the national in Kamloops and the other one in Toronto. But I expect that to change once my classes are finished. I hope to catch up with tthe shows as well as with my own painting. Still lots to do.
So as you can see, the post is short this time, but I'm posting on Facebook, sometimes a work in progress, sometimes not. Sometimes events are posted as well. So that will be all for now, but I will be in touch. And if you want to send me a note, you can do it here. Take care, more soon!
I am new at this blog business, but I want to share what I am doing with you. I will add my activities as they happen and show you what I do each day. And, hopefully, I'll get some painting done.
